A year to remember…
The holiday season has always held a certain kind of weight for me. It’s a time when everything feels a little more meaningful—family gatherings, the lights, the music, the stillness of winter. But this December was unlike any I’ve experienced before. This one was marked by something deeply personal: the release of my book, A Prodigal Journey.
There’s something incredibly humbling about sharing your story—the whole story—with the world. It’s one thing to live through it and come out on the other side. It’s another to put it down on paper and invite others to see the broken places, the wrong turns, and the moments where only God could’ve made a way.
The Visions of Hope Banquet with HOPE Calloway was more than just a launch event—it was a celebration of grace. As I stood there, books stacked beside me, I couldn’t help but feel a knot in my stomach. Not from nerves, but from the overwhelming realization of what God has done. A few years ago, I had no idea where I was headed. But God knew. And in His timing, He’s been making my path straight—even when I couldn’t see the next step.
Proverbs 3:6 has never felt more alive in my life. "In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight." That verse isn’t just something I quote—it’s something I’ve lived. And December, in all its reflection and celebration, reminded me once again that God doesn’t waste a single part of our journey.
I’ve also been reminded of the power of community. The outpouring of support—the prayers, the messages, the people who showed up or ordered a copy—has meant more than I could ever express. To everyone who has been a part of this journey, whether you’ve known me my whole life or just found my story recently: thank you. You’ve made this a year to remember.
Another exciting thing that I’ve recently done was making The Christmas Cards officially available. This play has meant a lot to me since I first wrote it, and releasing it this Christmas season felt like another step in following where God is leading. It’s a story filled with heart and hope, and I pray it continues to bless churches, families, and communities in the years to come. I had written and directed this show years ago with my own kids and my dear mammaw in the leading role, so it’s very dear to my heart, but it is a unique and fun show that I hope others can share!
As we step into a new year, I’m holding onto hope. Not just for my journey, but for yours. No matter where you’ve been or what lies ahead, God still writes the best stories—and He’s not finished yet.
